“This has to be the noisiest, creakiest house we've ever stayed at - which only added to its quirky character!
Peaceful place, nice to get away away and decompress from our busy lives. Wished I could have wild swam in the lake!
Fforest Inn, a pleasure - hosts so nice.
We visited the Judges Lodgings in Presteigne, very worth while and Wigmore Church and Castle with a lovely walk in the sunshine. Wish we had more time as always!
Thank you for lending us this lovely home. We filled it with laughter for a weekend."

“Wow what a gorgeous property and location!
It was a slightly wet and chilly stay but the house is so cosy for our group of 8. We explored the Brecon Beacons, River Wye and Elan Valley. Plus the beautiful walks around the house. All of this made for a special family break with lifelong memories made.
We hope every future guest has as good a time as we did."

“Dear hosts, it was wet and windy, yet we were cosy ...
This idillic spot provides access to lots of beautiful walks and runs and sheep and birds. The fire warmed our hearts and our friendships - and the pub down the road was well good and we were wishing to be snowed in so we could stay longer!"

“We stayed (5 adults + 1 dog) to visit Hay on Wye and relax. The area is beautiful, the view of the lake and sheep was beautiful. Birds nest out the window, seeing birds of prey and watching the sheep being herded.

“Quite a Christmas break! We loved the cost cottage and the dogs loved the view of the sheep. The waterfall was a special sight and a sight we revisited daily. The Fforest Inn was inn comparable for an ale and friendly service only a short walk away. Highly recommended! The wood burning stove warmed us from our wet walks and myriad meals were munched around the spacious table. Such a shame to leave! Thanks very much for the outstanding accommodation!"

"We have had a fabulous Summer holiday break in this lovely cottage! Away in the middle of nowhere surrounded by hills and sheep. Unfortunately it was rainy on quite a few days, but we made the best, sometimes venturing quite far for an indoor activity. The garden is nice and big and well maintained - our boys really enjoyed playing cricket in the dry spells!! Many thanks for the clean and cosy cottage - we not have beautiful memories to take home with us!!”

“Another fabulous visit for us, our 2nd but certainly not our last. Big bonus this year was the wrens' nest in the honeysuckle. When we arrived, we could see tiny little beaks begging for food. Yesterday all three chicks left the nest. Magical.”

'We arrived Friday afternoon to find this beautiful house, plenty of room for everyone and what a large garden which Sable loved wandering around and sniffing out new smells. It is so peaceful here and the air is so clear. We watched the red kites being fed, went to Aberystwyth, walked to The Fforest Inn a couple of times. We had all weathers - snow to sunshine. We have enjoyed playing some of the games and Charlie + Alana have enjoyed the nursery rhyme jigsaw and snakes and ladders. We have really enjoyed staying in the the cottage, thank you.”

“We had such a magical Christmas! The cottage is so lovely and cosy. The table was big enough for us all to be doing separate things, but we could all talk and laugh. I love that the kitchen was connected to the dining room, unlike our house! We could sometimes see the sheep grazing on the beautiful hills through the window, but not always because of the mist. I think we can all agree that this was a Christmas we will NEVER forget!"

“We've had a wonderful week. Five adults and our blind dog, Tilly, who navigated downstairs very quickly. Favourite outings include the Cycle Museum, Hergest Croft Gardens and Elan Valley, best vegan cafe we've encountered. Very nice walks too, which accommodated 3 different sets of requirements, from blind dog to very keen walker. The Fforest Inn also does excellent for vegan food, and very warm and friendly. Hay-on-Wye buzzing on Thursday market day. "

"Having read the earlier comments about the cottage, I have little to add to the obvious unrivalled joy which earlier visitors have experienced here except to say we have been privileged enough to share it. If ever a metaphorical cold compress was needed to be placed on a furrowed brow then Llynhillyn has all one needs. We spoke to our cockapoos, Martha and Doris and they totally agreed. Congratulations and thanks.”

“A last minute find that turned out to be an absolute gem for our family of 6 & 1 dog. Loved the cosiness of the house and the large garden. Unfortunately, Wales was still in lockdown so we had to drive to England to visit places but that was very close. Would recommend looking around Leominster and Ludlow, both very pretty, interesting towns. If you're into horse-riding, would definitely recommend Underhill Riding Stables. Sadly, the local Welsh pubs were still shut, so most of our eating was at home. Beautiful location, suited us very well. A special home. Thank you.”

And thank you for the lovely bottle of wine on arrival, much appreciated by the men!"

"Oh my what a wonderful, cosy, calm and homely cottage! The views which surround this lovely place are stunning. We absolutely loved being welcomed by the birds singing and the call of the sheep to their lambs. The cottage has a lovely family atmosphere and we spent our time together as a family, chatting and laughing and generally having quality time together which we don't very often get with day to day life. The cottage has everything you need to enjoy the comforts as a home from home.”

"5 adults, 2 teenagers, 1 little one and an 18 year old. We've had a lovely week here at the cottage, embraced the scenery with lots of picnics & adventures to the waterfall, villages and the great hospitality from the pub for a great family meal. Kids all up & ready daily for exploring & a treasure hunt arranged by Uncle Mark, up hills and map reading. Great to do as a family and play daft games at night rather than play station. Hopefully return one day.”

“Popular wisdom about family getaways in cottages suggests they are best avoided. And indeed, what better than an extended period of time isolated in a confined space to amplify the gripes of a group of people who are uniquely well acquainted with one anthers vices? An atmosphere of febrile cantankerousness is sure to set in. Our weekend here, however, has mysteriously evaded such pitfalls. I can only assume that the charms of Llynhillyn and the surrounding hills are at least partly responsible for this."
